House Bill 863 (Rothman, R-Cumberland) has passed the state General Assembly and has been signed by the Governor, amending the Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act. The RELRA changes require additional training for salesperson pre-licensure education, increasing pre-licensure education for new licensees by an additional 15 hours and grandfathering those already enrolled in classes. These changes went into effect 8/29/18. The bill allows licensees to conduct Broker Price Opinions, or BPOs. HB 863 will require salesperson licensees to complete all licensure courses within five years prior to the date of taking and passing the exam, allowing for a grandfathering process for those already enrolled in classes. The bill also requires a high school diploma or equivalent for licensure as a real estate salesperson.
